Cultivo del bonsái España

Interest in growing bonsais in Spain, along the lines of Japanese techniques began in the 1980s. The first exhibition of these plants which was held in the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid took place in 1984 and subsequent exhibitions and contests followed with certain regularity. Bonsai clubs were founded in Madrid and other provinces; annual exhibitions became more numerous and more frequented by visitors, until the present day, when Spanish bonsai growers participate with significant success in many international competitions. It may definitely be said today that there is a surge in bonsai growing in Spain.
