Description of the collection

The Algae Collection contains over 10,000 sheets. These mostly contain specimens from the Iberian Peninsula. The historical materials, from the era of the first studies of cryptograms carried out by D. Badia, Cavanilles and their school, fundamentally, M. Lgasca and S. Rojas Clemente, are also of outstanding importance. The collection also includes materials from the Junta de Ampliación de Estudios, collected by A. Caballero, among others. The P. Gonzalez Guerrero collection of freshwater algae is also highly noteworthy.
